DOOMSDAY MF DOOM TIMELAPSE & ARTWORK
This Timelapse was made out of love for the hip-hop artist, MF DOOM.  The video was synced with lyrics that accompany drawings of each cartoon surrounding the centerpiece being the rapper himself. This piece and video were made to highlight characteristics and reoccurring themes of MF DOOM's extensive body of poetic prowess. For the untrained eye, the lyrics and music in the video help bridge the gap in a more accessible manner.
Although, the theme of DOOMSDAY is relatively filled with the above content, it was made via a cultural means. Traditionally, graffiti memorials are created as tribute to commemorate the passing of an artist.  In this case, MF DOOM in 2020.  Historically when a fellow artist passes, the graffiti writer will create a lettered piece that is of the passing artist's name but in the style of the artist whom is creating the work. In this case, you can see the neon green letters saying simply 'DOOM' (shorthand for MF DOOM) that are made in letters of my own style under the moniker, ánimo (which is also signed in the bottom left corner).
DOOMSDAY in its entirety:
Illustration Notes
This piece is ready for print and installation through a variety of mediums.
This portrait developed as you can see in the timelapse. I took inspiration from DOOM being a fan of the Knicks basketball team and also as he derives from the Marvel Comics villain, Dr. Doom. The yellow aura and stream arising from DOOM is a direct reference to this element from, Dazzler #3 1981 (Marvel Comics).
"DOOM" Letter Notes
Last but not least we have the stylized DOOM letters them self. This was purely done in my own style but emphasized the lens that MF DOOM enhanced and emphasized as an artist who dastardly demonstrated the essence of a Masked Menace.
